God of war - fanart book cover

Working on my portfolio and felt like i need even more covers, since it is one of my main goals to be a cover illustrator. So this is a God of war Cover if there would be a book for it and if i would be hired to paint it. I know i will most likely grow out of it, but right now i love it a lot. The last paintings mean so much to me, as i see them as milestones in my growth. I could never had imagined to grow that fast, especially because i consider myself a slow learner. My improvement while i was in the illustration school felt so sluggish, but now i am free to experiment and learn at my own pace.
PS: I think its clear as day that i do not own the rights to the franchise and have nothing to do with the people who worked on the game(s). Its just a fanart of the awesome game that is the last "God of war". Seriously, if you don't know anything about the game then look it up. It has beautiful visual storytelling, script, music, design, and i could go on forever, because its so good!

I usually do at least 3 main sketches which are completely different and then do alternatives where i change smaller things. Then i draw a more detailed sketch which you can see here.

I always start with the background, this way i can set the mood from the start without changing the color palette much later.

This is the step before i start working on the details. I want the whole painting to be roughly finished at this point because changes will be more difficult later on. After this step comes rendering and color correction.
